What we keep, for how long, and how to have it removed.

There are no accounts on this site. We never ask for your name, your email address or a password, and we do not take payments.
The only thing we store is the card you write. When you write a card, we keep four items:
Each card is filed under a random 32-character identifier. That identifier is the link you receive. There is no list, no search and no index: a card can only be opened by someone who has the link.
Please do not write anything sensitive in a card — no passwords, no identity or payment numbers, no health information. Anyone who has the link can open the card.
We store your message because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for: turning your words into a link you can send (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
The recipient's name is stored on the basis of our legitimate interest in making the card feel addressed to someone (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is optional, it is only ever shown to whoever opens the link, and we have no means of contacting the recipient ourselves.
One year. Every card is created with a one-year expiry and is then deleted automatically by our storage provider. We do not have to do anything for this to happen, and we cannot recover a card once it has expired.
This site does not use cookies, and nothing here is used to track you or to build a profile.
While a card link is opening, your browser briefly remembers how many times it has retried, so that it does not retry forever. This is stored in your own browser for the duration of the visit only, is strictly necessary to open the card, and is never sent to us.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. Cloudflare states that it uses no cookies or other client-side state to track visitors, and does not fingerprint individuals by IP address, user agent or any other data.
We do not sell, rent or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising. No decisions are made about you automatically.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), which stores the cards on our behalf and processes the technical connection data needed to serve and protect the site. This may involve processing outside the European Union, under the safeguards provided in Cloudflare's data processing terms.
You may ask for access to your data, or for it to be corrected, deleted, restricted, or provided to you in a portable form, and you may object to our processing of it.
To have a card deleted, email contact@thesimple.fr and include the card link. Card identifiers are random and cannot be searched, so without the link we have no way to find your card among the others.
We answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL — www.cnil.fr.
This site is not directed at children under 15. We do not knowingly store cards written by them. If you believe a child has written one, write to us with the link and we will delete it.
If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. Cards already created keep the one-year retention described here.
